Year 2 burnt their houses for the Fire of London topic

Topics – Autumn Term 2016

Captain Cook

In September we are learning about Captain Cook.

We have already had a visit in our classroom from Captain Cook and we asked him lots of interesting and mature questions in Literacy.

We have also used Google Earth to follow some of his journeys and visit some of the exciting destinations from his travels.

We will visit the Birthplace Museum at Stewarts Park as part of our topic on Tuesday 22nd September.

Make sure you come back to see some or our pictures.

Our second topic and writing focus in Autumn 2 will be Winter and Christmas Poetry.

The children will look at rhyme and pattern through acrostic poetry and then write their own Christmas version.

The children will also look at retelling the Christmas story.

Neil Armstrong & Space

After Christmas our topic will involve the year 2 children travelling into space!

We will investigate and explore, just as Captain Cook and Armstrong did.
