Trust Appointed Governor
We currently have a vacancy for a Trust Appointed Governor.
What do governors do?
Governors play an important role in the decision making and running of the school, in conjunction with the Head of School, staff and the Board of Trustees. Becoming a governor would allow you to have input into the work of the school. There are three core functions:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
- Holding the Head of School to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
How much time would I be expected to give?
The local academy committee meets three times per year with those meetings taking place late in the afternoon. In addition, governors are also encouraged to get to know the school by visiting during the day, approximately one each term.
You will receive training to carry out your role and it will develop your skills, both personally and professionally. It will allow you the opportunity to see how the school is managed from the schools’ perspective, providing you with the opportunity to have a say in how it is managed.
If you are interested in applying, please contact the school office and ask for an application form. If you would like more information on the role of a governor, you can either speak to the Head of School or contact the Clerk of the Governing Body by email: brian.richardson@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk
