Topics – Autumn 2016

Julia Donaldson – Autumn 1

Julia Donaldson is a famous author who has written many wonderful stories. In the first term we aim to read a series of her stories, including ‘The Gruffalo’, ‘A Squash and a Squeeze’, ‘What the Ladybird Heard’ and one of her most recent stories, ‘The Scarecrows Wedding’. During this half term, we aim to use a lot of Talk for Writing to become familiar with the repetitive language used in the different stories. The aim of this is to inspire our writing and enable us to share and learn some fantastic stories.

Julia Donaldson – Autumn 2

During this half term, we are continuing to look at the famous author Julia Donaldson. We will be looking at a different variety of books including The Highway Rat, Room on the Broom, Stickman and one of her most recent, Zog. This topic will continue to inspire our work across the curriculum and we will be extremely busy being detectives, trying to catch a mischievous Highway Rat! Developing our Talk for Writing, we will also be receiving some exciting visits from a number of really special guests to develop our writing skills.
